After Decades of Hard Work, Steve “DJ Guz-E” deGuzman Releases His First EP as an Independent Artist

After years of working behind the scenes in both the restaurant and music industries, Steve “Guz-E” deGuzman steps into the spotlight with the release of his debut EP, Beautiful, under his independent imprint Guz-E Records.

A self-taught producer and lifelong music enthusiast, Guz-E’s journey began DJ’ing high-school dances in 1980 at Goose Creek High in South Carolina. Years later, he helped the band Tantric secure a deal with Maverick Records and went on the road as learning to roadie and drum tech, touring alongside Kid Rock, Dave Matthews Band, Creed, 3 Doors Down, Fuel, and Buckcherry.

Now based in Boulder, Colorado, he’s returned to his first love — creating music that merges cinematic electronic energy with lived experience.

Beautiful is a deeply personal and emotional body of work built entirely in Logic Pro, weaving together lush ambient synths, pulsing rhythms, and reflective storytelling. The project captures moments of loss, renewal, and rediscovery, standing as both a reflection of his life and a declaration of freedom as an artist.

“Creating music has always been part of who I am,” says Guz-E. “This release is about rediscovering that part of myself and proving that it’s never too late to share your sound with the world.”

The title track, Beautiful, anchors the project with its cinematic scope and emotional arc, underscoring the record’s themes of courage, honesty, and starting over.
